New York Somatic Therapy for adults and couples navigating what talk therapy hasn't reached.
Don't confuse how you've been with who you really are.
The Work
The work you've been putting off isn't going anywhere.
Many people come after years of talk therapy — with real insight, but without the shift they were hoping for. Understanding why a pattern exists and actually changing it are two different things. Somatic therapy works at the level where change actually happens: in the nervous system, in the body, not just in conversation.
This is work for people who are ready to go somewhere real.
- Adults navigating trauma, anxiety, or a pattern that hasn't shifted despite years of trying
- Couples at a crossroads or wanting to deepen what's already present
- Adult families navigating estrangement, transition, or repair
- High-achieving individuals whose inner life hasn't caught up with their outer one

Francesca Maximé
I'm a Haitian-Dominican Italian-American somatic psychotherapist, and I came to this work through my own. For years, I did traditional therapy — I understood the "bad things" that had happened to me, the ways in which I had a "good childhood," but that understanding didn't shift the patterns underneath. When I found the combination of somatic work, Buddhist psychology, and neuroscience, everything changed. I moved from anxiety and a persistent sense of not-enough to something that actually felt like wholeness. I trained in this work because I wanted to offer what had been so transformative for me.
I hold a Harvard AB in English Literature and a Master's in Clinical Social Work from Fordham. My clinical training includes Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and Relational Life Therapy. Before clinical work, I spent nearly two decades as a television news anchor for PBS NewsHour, Bloomberg, and FOX — which is to say, I understand the specific pressures of high-achieving, high-visibility life from the inside. I also host the Rerooted Podcast on Ram Dass's Be Here Now Network, where I've spent years in conversation with the leading voices in trauma, attachment, and somatic healing.
My clients, particularly those navigating race, culture, and achievement simultaneously, rarely have to spend sessions explaining context I already understand.

Couples
Couples Therapy
For partners navigating conflict, disconnection, betrayal, or a decision about the future of the relationship. The work draws on Relational Life Therapy, the Internal Family Systems couples model, and somatic approaches — addressing what's happening at the level of pattern and nervous system, not just communication. A particular focus: married couples, committed partners, interracial and intercultural partnerships, LGBTQ+ couples, and those navigating the specific relational complexity that comes with significant income disparity or professional visibility.

Individual Therapy
For adults working through trauma, anxiety, relational patterns, or the pressures of high-achieving life — including the specific weight carried by people navigating systems that weren't built for them. Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and mindfulness-based approaches, integrated based on what you actually need.

Adult Family Therapy
For adults navigating significant family dynamics — estrangement, reconciliation, parent-child relationships at a turning point, or sibling ruptures that have gone unaddressed. One person or both. The work is structured around what the situation actually requires, not a predetermined outcome.
